Who Am I?
Who Am I?
This past Sunday evening our brother Nathan Foster presented a lesson based upon 2 Corinthians 13:5 titled “Who Am I?” He made several allusions to and used a couple of illustrations from ice hockey. This caught my attention, especially since it was within an hour of the time that “his” Nashville Predators eliminated the St. Louis Blues from the playoffs!
More significantly the body of the lesson also caught my attention. His three points were:
1. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ
2. I am a Christian
3. I am a child of God.
As disciples of Jesus, we are to follow Him and grow to be more like Him each day. (Luke 6:46). We are to love Him more that we love anyone or anything else( Luke 14:26-27).
As Christians we are redeemed from sin. We are to imitate Him (1 Corinthians 11:1). We are also to be proud (in a positive way) to wear the name of Christ. (1 Peter 4:6).
As children of God we are part of His family. We know the love of the Father. (1 John 3:1). We stand to receive the inheritance from Him.
When we realize who we are we should be more motivated to appreciate our relationship with the Father and the Son. We should also be more inclined walk as Jesus did.
